The health and safety of the community we serve is our top priority. In response to the Alberta government declaring a state of public health emergency, Explore Edmonton has implemented the Restrictions Exemption Program at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. In addition, a vaccination policy has been introduced for all Edmonton Expo Centre employees. As such, the vaccination policy will also include all event participants. We believe this is the right decision for the success of our industry, our clients and employees, the right decision for protecting our community and the right decision for the health care system. With the large number of patrons and participants entering the Edmonton Expo Centre we need the additional control measure of vaccinations or proof of negative test results to minimize the serious hazard of COVID-19 to the greatest extent possible. As such, the following protocols are in place at the Expo Centre and shall apply to all event patrons and participants. Up to October 25: • Proof of partial vaccination (one dose) given 2 weeks prior to the event is required, or • Negative COVID-19 test that is Health Canada approved rapid antigen, rapid PCR or lab-based PCR tests completed within 72 hours, or • Formal documentation of a medical exemption as defined on the Alberta government’s COVID-19 public health actions | Alberta.ca site.
October 25 and later: • Proof of full vaccination (two doses) is required, with the second at least 14 days prior to the event, or • Negative COVID-19 test that is Health Canada approved rapid antigen, rapid PCR or lab-based PCR tests completed within 72 hours, or • Formal documentation of a medical exemption as defined on the Alberta government’s COVID-19 public health actions | Alberta.ca site. Patrons includes: Any member of the public entering the Expo Centre to attend an event. Participant includes: All volunteers, workers, show staff, exhibitors or suppliers participating in the event during public event hours. Public event hours: Defined as the period of time when patrons have access to enter the event space or show floor.
Masks Masks will continue to be required in compliance with Alberta Government guidelines. To assist with the implementation of this program, the Edmonton Expo Centre will bear responsibility of verifying each patron’s proof of vaccination at the designated entrance(s). This will include up to two Edmonton Expo Centre staff members covering patron and participant entrances. We believe implementing the Restrictions Exemption Program, requiring patrons and participants to be vaccinated and offering on site testing options are important additions to the existing safety measures the Edmonton Expo Centre has implemented since the onset of the pandemic. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure the safety of our community and to support the recovery of our industry.
